The three miracles of Sarah’s Tent ceased upon her passing. They returned when Rivkah built her home. The miracles correspond to the three mitzvos given especially to women. It is our mandate, through the observing and beautifying these mitzvos, to bring light, peace and blessing into our homes. Together we will delve into these mitzvos through a series of textually based shiurim. Rivkah’s Tent serves as the debut of the women’s JLI division.

Beginning Tuesday evening, January 11 at 7:30pm, this exclusive JLI pilot program will be taught by Rebbetzin Adina Altein at the new Jewish Learning Centre.
Registration fee is $54. Enroll today by calling (204) 414-5624.
Limited space is available.

It takes a woman’s touch to make a house a home. Join us for a special three-part lecture series as we explore the three mitzvot of the Jewish woman through which she breathes life into her family, nurturing both body and soul.

Course Overview

“Kneading Faith: The Mitzvah of Challah”
For some, challah evokes warm memories of mothers and grandmothers lovingly kneading dough and then braiding delicate strands into gorgeous loaves. Originating in the times of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, challah gracing the Shabbat table is a cherished Jewish tradition, and it is one of the foundations of the Jewish home. Many delight in the aroma and taste of challah, fresh from the oven—though the deeper dimension, the essence of this mitzvah, few have explored. This lesson will examine the history and significance of the mitzvah of challah, emphasizing its connection with Jewish women.

“Still Life with Candles at Friday Dusk”
Just before sunset on Friday, a woman lights the candles and covers her eyes in prayer. This iconic image has come to symbolize Jewish family and motherhood. Explore the mitzvah of candle lighting and the way in which it infuses a Jewish home with light and warmth. What is its origin? Why has it taken such hold of Jewish memory and imagination? We'll take an artistic journey, examining both poetry and painting, as we try to understand the magic and mystery of the Shabbat candles.

“Passion and Friendship: The Dynamic of a Jewish Marriage.”
Some flippantly envision marriage as a lifelong honeymoon, while others fear the responsibilities that often accompany it. Generations and cultures perceive marriage drastically differently, and this is reflected in marital expectations and obligations, as well as in divorce rates. In this lesson, we’ll examine Judaism’s unique construction marriage and intimacy, discuss the bond between husband and wife, and the unique place of the mikvah in a couple’s life.
