Guaranteed to enlighten even the most seasoned trivia buff, this treasure trove of "who knew?" Jewish factoids spans a wide range of intriguing subjects, including Biblical stories, Jewish life cycle events, mysteries of the occult, Jewish foods and festivals, the Hebrew language, and Jewish myths, misconceptions and urban legends.

JLI is the largest institute of adult learning of its kind, teaching in over 300 cities around the world. Its professionally conceived courses are taught through interactive dialogue accompanied by dynamic textbooks and dramatic audio-visual presentations. JLI’s holistic approach to Jewish study considers the impact of Jewish values on personal and interpersonal growth. Drawing on research-based instructional design and cutting-edge approaches to adult learning, JLI's innovative presentation of traditional Judaism is designed to be both intellectually rigorous and highly accessible.

Importantly, JLI courses are designed for people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, and participants don’t have to have any prior experience or background in Jewish learning to attend and enjoy this course. All JLI courses are open to the entire Jewish community, and people do not need to be a member of any particular synagogue or temple in order to attend.

Our local JLI Chapter, established in 2008, offers three flagship courses each year on relevant Jewish topics, accompanied by professionally designed power point presentations, powerful videos and student textbooks to assist in teaching the material. The courses are held at the Jewish Learning Centre and run for six consecutive weeks.

For the upcoming academic year of 5772, the program begins with Fascinating Facts in November, continues with Money Matters in February 2012 and concludes with The Art of Marriage in May 2012. This sequence is designed to provide a deeper understanding and appreciation of Jewish thought, heritage, and tradition, and enables students to achieve basic Jewish literacy as well as an understanding of cardinal Jewish beliefs and observances.
