As the year comes to a close, we are grateful for your support in ensuring a Jewish future for our children.

Over this past year we have experienced tremendous growth but there is still a lot of work to be done. With your generosity, we can counter the threat of assimilation by nurturing a Jewish atmosphere for your child and the greater community.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his wife Laureen Harper hosted a Menorah lighting ceremony at their home in honour of Chanukah.

It was a rare scene at 24 Sussex Drive, the official residence of the Prime Minister of Canada, located in the New Edinburgh neighborhood of Ottawa, Ontario.

A delegation of Chabad rabbis from across the country, including our very own Rabbi Avrohom Altein, gathered there to celebrate freedom over oppression and truth over evil, a stance Harper is familiar with in his unwavering defense of Israel.

Chanukah at Chabad

Hundreds turned up this past Sunday afternoon for our annual community-wide Chanukah celebration at the Jewish Learning Centre. The dreidel moon bounce was a big hit for young families, as well as the Chanukah grams, glow-in-the-dark dreidel crafts and facepaint. Families who took a photo op with Judah the Maccabee can download their high res pictures from our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/chabadwinnipeg.

Bernie Lofchik, a successful businessman and entrepreneur and long time supporter of Chabad-Lubavitch, gave opening remarks. Bob Freedman, CEO of the Jewish Federation, was honoured with lighting a giant glow in the dark Menorah, built by Bermax Furniture & Design.

Following the indoor celebrations, everyone… Read More »
