Chanukah is coming, and we want to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very happy and inspiring eight-day Festival of Lights. Chanukah brings a message of light and warmth just in time for the cold winter months!
Chanukah is about a little light pushing away an empire of darkness, human sensibility defying terror and brute force, and life and growth overcoming destruction. This battle is very much alive within each of us, and in the world outside of us.
We look forward to celebrating this special holiday together with you.
Happy Chanukah!
—Your friends at Chabad
P.S. Reading and sharing is great, but the most important thing do is to light the menorah. Click here for our beautiful Chanukah guide
with all of the information you need to fulfill this mitzvah. It will soon be available in print, free-of-charge, at local community centres, schools, and supermarkets. A special thank you to Kromar Printing and to all our sponsors.
P.p.s. Click here to watch an inspiring Chanukah message from Rabbi Avrohom Altein.
Community-Wide Chanukah Celebration and Menorah Lighting Ceremony
Don't miss Winnipeg’s most popular Chanukah event!
Join us on Sunday, December 2 from 4:00 pm, at our annual community-wide Chanukah party. This year's event will feature a live concert with the Borzykowski Brothers, greetings from elected officials, hot latkes, delicious sufganiyot, and loads of fun for the whole family! Get creative and make a spinning dreidel-bot at our Maccabee Makerspace,
take a family portrait with Judah the Maccabee, pick up a gift at our Chanukah boutique, Guess the Gelt to win a Chanukah present, and cheer us on as we take to the streets of Winnipeg in our police-escorted car Menorah parade.
No admission fee. Advance registration appreciated.
If you wish to participate in the Car Menorah Parade, you must register in advance as space is limited. We are also looking for volunteers to help with various aspects of the event - feel free to sign up during registration.
For more information, call Alla at 204-298-4221 or email [email protected].
Kids' Program
It'll be blast for kids 7-12!
Dream, create, build. Anything is possible in our Maccabee Makerspace. Make a spinning robot dreidel, get a Chanukah balloon, join us for a family concert and much more!
Program runs from 4pm to 5pm on Sunday, December 2 at the Jewish Learning Centre (see above).
We would like to help you light a menorah of your own. Electric menorahs are great for display purposes and are a wonderful medium for publicizing the miracle, but the Chanukah lights used to fulfill the mitzvah should be real flames fueled by wax or oil – like the flames in the Holy Temple.
You can pick up a menorah kit, candles, dreidel, and a beautiful Chanukah guide at the Jewish Learning Centre.
Join us for an exclusive Menorah lighting ceremony with Mayor Brian Bowman. To people of all faiths, the menorah serves as a symbol of the triumph of freedom over tyranny, good over evil, and light over darkness. This is a special opportunity to share the universal message of Chanukah with our fellow Winnipeggers.

We can help!
Each year we print a beautiful Chanukah Guide featuring state-of-the-art graphics, a light and lucid description of the traditions, laws, and customs, the latest in Jewish music and books, and delicious holiday recipes.
