Winter JLI Course on Relevance of Judaism in Modern Society

The Jewish Learning Institute (JLI) will present To Be a Jew in the Free World: Jewish Identity Through the Lens of Modern History, the institute’s new six-session Winter 2014 course that will begin on Tuesday, February 11th.

Rabbi Shmuly Altein of Chabad-Lubavitch will conduct the six course sessions at 7:30 pm on Tuesdays at the Jewish Learning Centre.

It looks like we're finally getting some warmer weather this weekend, so...
Bundle up and sled on over!

Join us this coming Monday, February 17 - Louis Riel Day, from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM, for sledding and family fun in the snow. We'll meet at the retention pond, just behind the Jewish Learning Centre.

Reflections on our visit to Israel with Prime Minister Harper's delegation

Dear Friends,

Adina and I had the distinct privilege and honour of being invited to join our Prime Minister on his first official visit to Israel as part of his delegation. We were joined by many other prominent business and community leaders, Rabbis and our Member of Parliament Joyce Bateman.

Some of our trip highlights included a tour of Yad Vashem’s Holocaust Memorial Museum, a visit to the Knesset and the Western Wall (and the Tunnel Tours), laying the cornerstone for the future Stephen J. Harper Hula Valley Bird Sanctuary Visitor and Education Centre, great kosher food - amazing Israeli breakfast :), and meeting up with some local Winnipeggers in the Old City of Jerusalem.

Chabad-Lubavitch joins Prime Ministers Delegation to Israel

We are proud that our very own Rabbi Avrohom Altein was invited by Prime Minister Harper and his wife Laureen to join them on their first official visit to Israel.

Rabbi Shmuly & Mrs. Adina Altein will be traveling in his place, together with other Canadian Jewish delegates and Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbis accompanying the Prime Minister during his three-day stay in Israel.

Lunch and Learn in Honour of Tu B'Shevat at Taylor McCaffrey

Organized by the Jewish Learning Institute (JLI), our Lunch and Learn study group meets every week at various office locations downtown and is guaranteed to be a refreshing break in the midst of a fast-paced work day.
