With the approach of the Jewish festival of Passover, the Lubavitch Centre is once again presenting a unique program, the Model Matzah Bakery.

Hundreds of participants from all over Winnipeg will come to the Chabad Jewish Learning Center to make a Matzah the way that our forefathers did… from scratch.

Re-learning one of the most ancient forms of bread making and gaining insight into the crunchy symbol of Passover, this exciting, hands on, educational experience has captured the souls of young and old.

At the Model Matzah Bakery participants thresh wheat stalks, winnow the chaff, grind the grain in a hand powered stone mill and sift out the bran. They then use this whole grain flour to make their own traditional hand baked Matzah- the way our forefathers did three thousand three hundred years ago, in Egypt.

Special emphasis is placed on the traditional customs and symbolism of the Matzah making process, of the Seder night and Passover in general.

Many feel that this program is the ultimate Passover preparation.

The Model Matzah Bakery is located at the Jewish Learning Center 1845 Mathers Ave.
