This Wednesday, the new Mikvah at the Jewish Learning Centre will be officially inaugurated, and you are invited to view this “state-of-the-art” beautiful facility and celebrate this momentous occasion.

The Mitzvah of Mikvah is gaining lots of popularity in recent years in Jewish feminist circles because the Mikvah enables the Jewish woman to experience a very touching sense of spirituality and sanctity. In many communities, many women that are perhaps not fully observant in other areas of Jewish life, such as keeping fully kosher or observing the Shabbat, are nevertheless fully committed to Mikvah and enjoy the way it enriches their relationship with their husbands.

Interestingly, building and maintaining a proper Mikvah in a community has precedence even over building a synagogue. The Halachic authorities rule that if a community does not have enough funds to both build a synagogue and a kosher Mikvah—the Mikvah comes first! A Jewish community is not permitted to sell a Torah scroll, even if they desperately need the funds. The only exception is if the money to be realized from the sale of the scroll will be used to pay for the costs of a Jewish wedding, or for the cost of building a proper Mikvah.

The Mikvah experience should be one that offers complete privacy, serenity and comfort. The new Chabad-Lubavitch Mikvah does exactly that. The beautiful waiting and preparation rooms carry the aura of a high-class spa. Security and privacy are paramount. And the kashrut of the Mikvah is at the highest possible level.

To celebrate the completion of our new Mikvah, we invite you to a benefit evening of Art & Soul; a chassidic art exhibition and sale of the works of world renowned artist and mosaic creator Michoel Muchnik. In addition, a beautiful mosaic Wall of Honour, created by the artist, will be unveiled in our front lobby to pay tribute to our capital campaign donors.
